Some Nights Just Work and Everyone Feels It!

Mason Middle School’s annual Evening of the Arts was one of those magical nights as students showcased their talents. While robotics and sports are highly subscribed to and provide great opportunities for our middle school students, the music and fine arts programs displayed that evening revealed those programs can hold their own.

Parents, friends, relatives, siblings, teachers and classmates all came together to enjoy our student producers and performers. The bands played, the choirs performed and the visual arts provided an animated digital art exhibit featuring a neon glow gallery, a graphic art display and a gallery walk. You had to be there to believe the level of creativity that was present. It tells me the artsy kids have a bright future if they wish to pursue arts as a career. At the very least, they have a great avocation – far more fruitful than living on social media!

While the students shined, it was apparent our gifted teachers shaped the success! The thought, time and effort that consumed the many weeks prior were nothing short of remarkable!

As I sat in the audience and walked the halls peering at the displays, I observed parents tearing up during a solo or viewing their child’s painting. There was a little sister proudly watching and listening to music. I noticed the choir director calming nerves with a smile and the band directors guiding students with subtle cues. The art teachers were offering antidotes to families about their children’s challenges and successes. Magic it was – and everybody felt it!
