Teamwork and Leadership Lead to a Prestigious Yearbook Award
Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-centered content, recently announced that Mason High School’s yearbook team, under the leadership of Kristin Higgins, was awarded the Program of Excellence Award for its broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills.
While many would argue we are living in a “me” and “now” era, the beauty of a school yearbook is that it captures important moments, achievements, friendships, events and traditions that students can revisit for years to come. Additionally, the yearbook builds a sense of belonging and celebrates the diverse experiences of our students.
Besides the value of documenting school history and serving as a record of memories, the journalism team at Mason High School has developed a strong voice in telling a story of their peers, clubs and events through writing, photography and design. The team developed real world skills such as interviewing, writing, photography, graphic design, teamwork, leadership and project management. It also figured out the criticalness of deadlines. Just ask Kristin Higgins – as you can guess, there were some tense moments!
