MASON WINS 2026 MICHIGAN FFA PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE CONTEST
The 98th Michigan FFA State Convention witnessed fierce competition as teams vied for the top honors in the Parliamentary Procedure Contest. The finals, held March 4-5, saw teams showcasing their knowledge and skills in fundamental aspects of effective meeting management, group decision-making and leadership.
After rigorous rounds of district and regional level competition, the Mason FFA Chapter emerged victorious as the winners of the 2026 Michigan FFA Parliamentary Procedure Contest. The winning team was comprised of Wesley Rogers, Katie Hills, Ellen Picken, Alex Cargill, Emma Whipple, Maya Olvera and Bryce Crowl. Their dedication, teamwork and mastery of parliamentary procedure principles set them apart in this prestigious competition.
The first runner-up position was secured by the Olivet FFA Chapter, closely followed by the Ubly FFA Chapter as the second runner-up.

“In the Parliamentary Procedure Contest, members gain the skills needed to be active and effective contributors in their communities,” said Brent DeSaegher, 2025-2026 Michigan FFA state president. “From local boardrooms to legislative chambers, productive meetings and respectful debate move ideas forward. Parliamentary Procedure equips members with the tools to lead discussions, collaborate thoughtfully and create positive change for the greater good.”
The Michigan FFA Parliamentary Procedure Contest, a cornerstone event of the state convention, aims to cultivate leadership, teamwork and communication skills among FFA members. Participants demonstrate their understanding of parliamentary law, effective meeting management and decision-making processes.
The state winner, the Mason FFA Chapter, will proudly represent Michigan FFA at the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo, scheduled from Oct. 21-Oct. 24, 2026, in Indianapolis.

Mason Middle School (MMS) Assistant Principal Mary Hilker-Loch has been selected as the new Principal at MMS. She will assume the role at the start of the 2026-27 school year after the retirement of current Principal Ted Berryhill.
