Classroom assignments for elementary students will be provided via Skyward in mid-August. Middle school student schedules will be viewable on Skyward in mid-August. High school schedules are viewable on Skyward now. Lists of basic school supplies for elementary students will be updated on each building’s website this summer and will be available in early August. Middle school supply lists will also be updated this summer and will be available on the Mason Middle School website.
All middle and high school students who plan to try out for any sport must have a current sports physical on file prior to tryouts. The Sports Physical Card must be completed by a medical provider on or after April 15 of the previous school year in order to be valid. Sports physicals are available through your students’ primary care doctor as well as most urgent care and walk in clinics. Mason Public Schools (MPS) does not offer sports physical clinics. Students in middle and high school will begin utilizing a new program, Final Forms, for all electronic paperwork, including physicals. Be on the lookout for more specific information in the coming weeks from the middle school and high school athletic directors.
Work permits for students under 16 and for students ages 16 and 17 are available on the Mason Public Schools website. Students complete the first section of the form and the student’s employer will complete the second portion. Once both sections are complete, please email the form to Lisa Bercaw or Jodi Somerville for certification.
The Ingham County Health Department will offer free hearing and visions screenings over the summer. Screenings are appropriate for children over the age of 3 and take place from 9 AM - 4 PM on the dates below. All screenings will be at the health department building, 5303 South Cedar Street, in Lansing. No appointments are necessary. If parents/guardians are unavailable on the dates, screening appointments can be scheduled. Please call 517.887.4322 with any questions.

This is the only option to view within Skyward Family Access during the summer. The system opens in mid-August for the new school year. Students in need of transcripts can request them using Parchment. Transcripts requested online are sent securely to the colleges, universities or scholarship funds selected by the student.
There is still time to register for Kindergarten!
Mason families with children who will be five years old by September 1, 2026, can sign up now to begin school in the fall. Students who will be five years old by December 1, 2026, are also eligible with an age waiver. Registration must be completed in the Skyward system for both new families and families with established Skyward accounts. Learn more about kindergarten and register on the Harvey Education Center website. All kindergarten classes are full day and meet at the Harvey Education Center (HEC). We can't wait to meet the next class of Bulldogs!
We are excited to share that Emelia Brown has been selected as the next principal of Harvey Education Center (HEC). She will begin in July and welcome students this fall for the new school year. Mrs. Brown has been an educator for more than 20 years and has extensive experience in both elementary and early childhood education.
