Mason High School Implements Cell Phone Storage System in Fall 2025

At Mason Public Schools, we believe students learn best when they are engaged with their teachers and each other. Classrooms are filled with opportunities for academic success, and we are committed to reducing barriers that can impact learning.

Beginning in Fall 2025, Mason High School will begin using cell phone caddies in classrooms to support our existing personal communication device (PCD) policy. These caddies will hold student phones during class time to help limit distractions and promote better focus.

This change is not a new policy, but a new way to support enforcement of Board Policy 5136 and the Mason High School Student Handbook, which state that “the use of PCDs, except those approved by a teacher or administrator, at any other time is prohibited.”

Here’s what students can expect:

  • Phones will be stored during class in a caddy or other designated area.
  • Phones may be used before school, during passing time, at lunch and after school.
  • If a student does not have a phone in class, they will place a laminated card in their caddy slot as a placeholder.

If a student needs to contact home during the day, or if a family needs to reach their student, the main office remains the best point of contact. Additional information is available on an informational flyer and will continue to be shared with high school families as the school year approaches.
