Grid Overload: So That Was the Explanation

Were the lights in your office or home flickering on the morning of August 26? Were you afraid you would lose power? Blame Mason High School (MHS)! That was the day the 2026-27 school year was launched, and I must tell you - the place was humming!

I walked in well before the 7:40 a.m. bell, and you could feel the energy. Music was playing in the halls, students were reconnecting with peers, and smiles and high-fives were everywhere. You had a real sense of new beginnings and possibilities!

Students experienced streamlined class sessions where they engaged in “get acquainted” activities, acquired a flavor of their first trimester’s learning opportunities, and were familiarized with the expectations of being model Bulldogs. A new chapter! A new start! An opportunity to make memories! These were the unwritten messages.

The pep assembly served as the crescendo. No one could argue that the excitement throughout the school turned energy into something visible and collective.

Yes, MHS’s first day was more than a launch; it was a day filled with hope, joy, opportunities and dreams. If the lights flickered beyond the school walls, perhaps it was because students had generated more electricity than the grid could handle!
