Parade Balloons Take Over Steele Elementary
Steele Elementary students learned about the history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, discovered the giant balloons that make it so special and even created a parade of their own. They designed and showcased their balloons to the rest of the school with creativity and spirit. Check out the balloon parade video!

Late-start Wednesdays begin on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. All school schedules will begin one hour later than normal following the schedule below. Buses will run one hour later than their usual schedule to pick up students.
- Mason High School: 8:40 a.m. - 2:35 p.m.
- Mason Middle School: 8:40 a.m. - 2:35 p.m.
- Alaiedon, North Aurelius, Steele and Harvey Education Center: 9:40 a.m. - 3:47 p.m.
Mason Public Schools (MPS) has posted signs near sinks and bottle filling stations in school buildings in compliance with Michigan's Filter First law. The signs are part of following the new state law, not because there is, or was, a problem with the drinking water in any MPS buildings.

Mason Public Schools (MPS) Board of Education (BOE) has selected Matt Hall to fill the vacant BOE position. Four individuals, including Hall, were interviewed for the position which will serve through the remainder of the current term and through the next regular school election cycle, ending in 2028. 
Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Erica Francis will serve as the assistant principal at Mason Middle School (MMS). A familiar face around the district, she has taught math at MMS for more than 20 years and brings a wealth of experience along with a reputation for building strong, positive relationships with students.
