Board of Education
The Mason Public Schools Board of Education is comprised of seven members who serve overlapping terms of six years each. Regular Board of Education meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Regular meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. at Mason City Hall, unless otherwise noted.
Board Meetings
Regular Board of Education meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Regular meetings begin at 7:00 pm in Mason City Hall's Council Chambers, except as indicated.
All meetings of the Board are open to the public except those specifically exempted by law. Closed sessions may be called to discuss certain personnel matters, student discipline, contract negotiations, and for consultation with attorneys on pending litigation. No vote on any item may be taken in closed session.
A quorum of four board members is needed to conduct business. The superintendent and administrative staff are available at board meetings to provide reports and background information.
Minutes are recorded at each board meeting. These minutes are public record and, as such, are available to interested individuals.
