As we have communicated recently, Mason Public Schools intends to offer a full online option for the 2021-22 school year called the Bulldog Virtual Academy (BVA) in addition to a five days per week in-person option.
At this time, we anticipate that in-person instruction will be five days per week. A one-hour late start Wednesday will continue, as in years past, to allow teachers to engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLC). We also plan to follow the same safety protocols that students are currently experiencing. This will include social distancing when possible, and a potential mask requirement based on data from the Ingham County Health Department. We will continue to remain attentive to all safety protocols. You do not have to respond to the survey if your child(ren) plans to return to in-person instruction in the fall.
Bulldog Virtual Academy (BVA)
The BVA will provide a robust learning experience that is fully online with a balance of live and independent instruction. BVA students will engage in virtual instruction that is comparable in content and pacing to in-person instruction. Also, as a Mason Public Schools program, students will have access to social and emotional supports, sports, performing arts and clubs.
Please respond to the survey link below to reserve your child(ren)’s spot in BVA by Tuesday, May 11. Please submit an application for each individual student. If for any reason a family needs to make a change to their selection, please contact your child(ren)’s school office by June 1, 2021. The commitment to BVA is for at least one full trimester and student placements will not be changed in the middle of the trimester.
Please note: For BVA only, it is possible that MPS will contract with third-party instructors to teach some classrooms/subject areas based on enrollment and elementary students may be assigned to a teacher from a different building. In situations where a third-party instructor is used, a Mason Public Schools employee will be assigned as a mentor.
Mason Public Schools is grateful to families and staff for remaining flexible throughout the 2020-21 school year. Thank you for helping us plan for next year as early as possible.
