Mason Public Schools (MPS) has recently hired a new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director to serve Mason Middle School. Mary Hilker, who has spent the last 3 years teaching fifth grade at Mason’s Alaiedon Elementary, has recently stepped into this role after Craig Kueffner was hired to serve as the District’s new Director of Student Supports.

In July, the planned safety measures for the Return to School this fall were shared with staff and families. Since that time, transmission rates have risen in Ingham County. Today at the Board of Education meeting, the Board voted to require face masks in district buildings during school hours for all students, staff and visitors regardless of vaccination status. This will take effect Tuesday, August 24.

All Mason Public Schools students will receive one FREE breakfast and lunch per day during the 2021-22 school year! 

Families should still complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application to help Mason Public Schools receive State and Federal Funding.

In early May, Mason Public Schools was happy to announce that students will return to 5-days per week, in-person instruction this fall in addition to virtual instruction for students who elected that option. As families prepare for the fall, we would like to share our plans for the return to in-person learning in August.

This year, the Diversity Committee has established a solid foundation for the work of the District including developing a committee mission, goals, norms as well as the 2020-22 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Implementation Plan.

Mason Public Schools and the Mason Teacher’s Association are happy to share key dates for next school year. The district and the association have reached a tentative agreement on the 2021-2022 school calendar. In the coming weeks, detailed school calendars will be shared with our school community.

Mason Public Schools (MPS) is thrilled to announce the return of Kids Read Now (KRN) summer reading program for Summer 2021. All MPS students in grades Young 5s/Kindergarten through grade 4 will receive eight (8) self-selected books mailed to their homes throughout the summer, and an additional ninth writing book that students can self-author. Student will receive these nine (9) books to keep for free.
