Mason, MI – By the end of this summer, Phase 1 of Mason Public Schools’ capital improvement project will be complete. This phase included the renovation and expansion of the Harvey Education Center, Alaiedon Elementary and North Aurelius Elementary buildings. Additionally, the district has purchased furniture, equipment and buses as well as has been continuing to upgrade technology throughout all district buildings.

We are pleased to announce the start of the Mason Bookmobile. Beginning June 29, the Bookmobile will begin providing books to all interested 4th - 12th-grade students.  

The Bookmobile will make four stops, including Alaiedon Township Offices, Mason Manor, Sycamore Village, and the Harvey Educational Center.

Mason, MI – As the 2019-20 school year draws to a close, leaders and administrators in Mason are not preparing for a normal summer. This week, a team consisting of Board of Education members, administrators, teachers and parents is coming together to begin developing a plan that will meet the needs of all students as they return in the fall all while considering the precautions necessary to keep students and staff safe.

Mason, MI – At the March 9, 2020 Board of Education Meeting, the Mason Public Schools (MPS) Board approved plans to move forward with the renovation and expansion of the existing tennis courts located at Mason High School.

Mason, MI – Per a statement from Governor Whitmer on May 1, capital improvement project construction will resume on Alaiedon Elementary and North Aurelius Elementary tomorrow, May 7. Crews will begin safely continuing work on the projects that were placed on hold following Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-42 which halted all non-essential activity throughout the State.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the Board of Education approved an amendment to the Owner’s Representative contract for Moore Trosper Construction to assume the temporary role of Construction Manager to complete Phase 1 work at North Aurelius and Alaiedon Elementary. The expanded scope of work for Moore Trosper Construction is needed after the Board approved a mutually agreed upon termination of construction management services with the Skillman Corporation.

Mason Middle School, eighth-grade student, Melody Meyer was announced as one of 10 statewide winners of Farm Bureau Insurance’s America and Me Essay Contest. The theme of the annual contest is “My Personal Michigan Hero.” Melody’s essay earned 9th place out of approximately 3,500 essays submitted by students from over 350 Michigan schools.
