COVID-19

Mason Public Schools will share updates received from the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) on this COVID-19 Dashboard.

As required by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), effective October 12, 2020.  The 'Cumulative Confirmed or Probable Cases' counts below are from August 1, 2021 to present.  Effective September 7, 2021, the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) has issued two Emergency Orders and a guidance document specific to education institutions/settings:

Ingham County Health Department Guidance for Schools

PDF DocumentEMERGENCY ORDER (Ingham2021-2) FOR CONTROL OF EPIDEMIC MASK REQUIREMENT FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS- CHILD CARE CENTERS, PRESCHOOLS AND PRE-K to 12 SCHOOLS (ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, HIGH AND VOCATIONAL)

PDF DocumentEMERGENCY ORDER (Ingham2021-3) FOR CONTROL OF EPIDEMIC ISOLATION AND QUARANTINE ORDER IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS

Mason Public Schools will work with the ICHD to receive and share data regarding school associated cases. The ICHD determines what is a probable or confirmed case. According to MDHHS, a “school associated case” means a case of probable or confirmed COVID-19 amongst students, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers or any other person who was present on school property or at a school function under circumstances that may result in the transmission or contraction of COVID-19 during their infectious period. As directed by the MDHHS, the ICHD must share probable or confirmed cases with schools within 24 hours. Schools will then post the information received in a public place within 24 hours of notification from the health department.

We will continue to work with ICHD to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff.  To ensure the health and well-being of our school community, we have taken several steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

These safety practices and other strategies listed below, are part of Mason Public Schools’ COVID-19 Prevention Strategy.

  • Masks are required for all staff, students, and visitors while at our facilities or on school buses. Additional personal protective equipment is available for staff, based on work assigned.
  • Daily health screenings are required for all staff, based on direction from ICHD and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Families are to screen children and/or themselves before sending children to school or attending appointments/activities at Mason Public Schools.
  • Classrooms and shared spaces are cleaned routinely.

The school district, in cooperation with the ICHD, informs all individuals that are considered 'close contacts' of confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19.
